Our Story
Mick is a family man and Broken Head Building is a family business, working alongside wife Ky and their four children. Mick & Ky relocated from the Sutherland Shire of Sydney over 15 years ago, where Mick was building high-end luxury waterfront homes in Cronulla. They bought a working macadamia farm in the Byron Bay hinterland and made the move. Over the years of renovating it became The Grove, a bespoke wedding venue which was highly publicized for its laid-back Byron aesthetic.
Mick, with wife Ky and their four children, have forever been building and renovating their own homes. They understand how a family uses a home, and what truly makes a house, a home. They have first-hand experience in the need for budget and time management.

Mick Drury
Director
Leading the Broken Head Building team is our director, Mick Drury. You will find Mick on the building site, “on the tools” with his team. Mick has an incredible eye for detail, and values true craftsmanship in the building process and works with quality materials. As such, he specialises in high-end detailed work and values working with architectural or drafting plans.
Mick is a certified builder, tiler and plumber - this combination means he is across all aspects of the project, and is able to problem solve with a deeper understanding of select trades.
Simone Ainsworth
Project Coordinator
imone is responsible for the management, budgeting and scheduling of our projects. Simone handles our proposals and contracts, managing client relationships and project timelines.
She fosters strong supplier relationships and handles materials ordering.
Simone works in our office full-time, alongside Mick who is on the building site.
